Profile - Overview
Hi, and welcome to my site, I hope you find it educational, interesting, and perhaps inspiring as well.
Let me humbly re-introduce myself. My name is Mark Daum and I’m known mostly as a respected music teacher, and former music school owner, in the Hamilton, Ontario area.
Before and during my teaching career however, my small claim to fame was for performing with an instrument that I invented called a ‘Piantar’ (1994), which involves playing both keyboard and guitar simultaneously. And then between 2000-2004, as an experimental Guitarist who developed an approach to improvising that employs ‘Random Alternate Tunings’ made up before every piece.
Both of these ventures brought a little bit of international attention my way, but unfortunately injuries acquired over the years kept me from really sharing them more widely, on a consistent basis.
Until NOW !

Teaching, Performing, Improvising, Composing, Songwriting, Recording, Releasing Music, Writing lyrics and books, Sharing the healing aspects of Music, etc. - All these, are important to me, and I'm glad to say that my interests in Music remain the same as they were when I was young.
My first experience as a music teacher came when I was 18 years old, while studying classical guitar. But it wasn't until 10 years later that I realized that I had an aptitude for it, and that I really enjoyed helping students to get their creative sparks flying.
I still feel this way, as Music is the greatest tool for learning,
for health and for joy, that I’ve ever come across.
After taking a look and listen around the site,
if you think that I might be of benefit to you as a teacher in helping you refine your musicianship,
or that I might be able to contribute to one of your projects as a player, please get in touch.
Best of luck in your Musical endeavors !
Mark Daum
